D-Day 80 case study

Qdos Event Hire was honoured to supply cabins, toilets, modular buildings and storage containers to the outdoor events held in Portsmouth to commemorate D-DAY 80. The first of which was held on the morning of 5th June and broadcast live on BBC One. With veterans in attendance, along with TM King Charles III and Queen Camilla, senior politicians and foreign dignitaries, the specially curated programme captured the spirit of the important moment in history.

Qdos was amongst the event suppliers who had worked with the BBC Studio Events team and Chromatic to successfully deliver the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle and were called upon to support the team again.

Our highly experienced Project Director Terry Marsh oversaw the delivery and installation of 64 units at the Southsea Common site. There were requirements for production and accreditation cabins, stores and toilets, dedicated audience toilets and luxury vacuum toilet trailers for the Royal Box.

Given that there were more than 500 military performers, BBC presenters and special guests including Dame Helen Mirren, Marisha Wallace, Phil Dunster, Emma Barton and Zak Abel, we needed an extensive amount of infrastructure to create dressing rooms and artist areas. Here we provided our 32’ x 10’ 50/50 dressing rooms, along with mixed jackleg toilets and accessible toilets.
