Summer at Silverstone Case Study
Qdos Event Hire returned to Silverstone Circuit this summer for a packed calendar of events, including the British Grand Prix, Moto GP and Silverstone Festival. In addition to providing cabins directly to the event organiser and circuit, it also worked closely with Match Hospitality and Moto GP’S broadcaster and commercial rights holder Dorna.
Almost 130 units delivered were delivered to the British Grand Prix; including cabins, modular buildings, toilets, guard houses and storage units in a variety of sizes. These were distributed around the track and utilised by the numerous contractors onsite. From welfare and signing in areas for security, catering and cleaning staff, to designated spaces for race makers, hospitality teams, drug testing and policing.
The last few years has seen the addition of a main stage to the Formula 1 weekend with its own set of requirements and we worked closely with the production team to meet their needs. This year’s line-up included Kings of Leon, Stormzy, Pete Tong and Rudimental. The cabins for this area were amongst the first to arrive onsite in late June and included 25 of our 24’ x 9’ cabins in a combination of open plan and 50/50 splits for use as offices, dressing rooms, green rooms, artist liaison and welfare areas. We also provided a double stacked 40’ x 8’ modular building which was utilised by security on the ground floor, whilst the top floor was event control.
For the Moto GP 25 of the units installed for the British Grand Prix remain in situ, including artist dressing rooms, site offices for cleaning and security staff, race maker cabins, along with cabins for the police and contractor sign in. Additional cabins are then delivered in late July and these include five 20’ x8’ CTX units for use by the event’s sponsor Monster Energy. A further 50 units from our CTX range are supplied to Dorna for use as galleries, TV production office, server rooms and workshop areas.
Many of the 24’ x 9’ dressing rooms remain in situ throughout the summer until the Silverstone Festival rounds off a busy summer of events at the circuit over the August bank holiday weekend.
