Eurovision Song Contest case study
Qdos Event Hire delivered cabins, offices, toilets and stores to the BBC as host broadcaster of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Located just outside the M & S Bank Arena in Liverpool, the Broadcast Compound was conveniently situated for the three live shows within the arena and the National Lottery’s Big Eurovision Welcome which was also televised on BBC One.
We provided 24 units in total which included four of our 3 bay modular buildings, eight 32’ x 10’ cabins in various configurations with some double-stacked and supplied with staircases, a 20’ store, an 18’ mobile office and a 4 Ladies + 2 Gents + 3 Urinals luxury vacuum toilet trailer.
The cabins and modular buildings served as offices for production and technical staff, media managers and audio, accreditation, graphics and voting equipment. The store was used to safely house pyrotechnic equipment.
We also serviced the toilets regularly and were on constant standby to maintain and clean the luxury vacuum toilet trailer.
Sweden’s Loreen won the overall competition becoming only the second individual to win twice, having previously winning in 2012.
The Eurovision Song Contest, organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), reached 162 million people over the 3 live shows across 38 public service media markets. *
