Qdos Event Hire delivered an extensive array of event cabins and modular buildings to Silverstone for Formula 1’s British Grand Prix and 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in August 2020. The temporary buildings were used by the Formula 1 teams, broadcast and FIA officials and were essential to ensuring that the sport complied with the FIA’s strict Covid-19 protocols.
Not only were the races held behind closed doors, but the teams also formed ‘bubbles’ with rigorous testing in place and travel restrictions ruled out the use of the various hospitality trailers and structures that would normally create the Team Paddock.
We supplied three 24’ x 9’ cabins to each of the 10 Formula 1 teams, including Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren. Each team had three open plan cabins for the sole use of the team principle and two racing drivers. These were situated in the Team Paddock area located behind the Silverstone Wing. Each team also had an additional cabin that was utilised as a testing station. All units were supplied with air-conditioning.
For the broadcast area we installed five 24’ x 9’ open plan cabins and two 32’ x 10’ cabins with a 50/50 split, all complete with air-conditioning. Four additional 20’ x 9’ and 32’ x 10’ cabins were supplied as testing onsite testing centres by Eurofins.
In addition, a combination of seven next generation production offices, which feature rounded corners and hidden jacklegs to offer a sleeker and more stylish exterior, and 3070sqft of our CTX modular buildings in various configurations was supplied for the FIA Official’s area and for Porsche Supercup scrutineers.
